Van Build

I’ve been interested in van life since 2018, and in late 2020 I started working on my own van. I never owned nor funded the van, but the time that I spent building it was full of so much learning that it was often times overwhelming. I approached the van build with the mindset that the van should be compatible with the most amount of people possible. I finished the van in 2021 with my little sister.

Financial Logistics

The van was 35 thousand dollars and the renovation cost around 8 thousand dollars. All money was provided by my parents and all profits are in possession of my parents. The van is estimated at between 50 to 60 thousand dollars in value.

Features:

  1. A bench/table combo that can transition between the two or fully fold up out of the way.

  2. A separation wall between the cabin and the back of the van to allow for more consistent insulation.

  3. Maximized storage and living space without either of the two interfering with the other.

  4. A pullout sink and stove top to enable as much usable space at all times.

  5. A Murphy bed to enable as much living space as possible.

  6. An electrical system with home and alternator charging.

  7. A water and electrical monitoring system to view the battery and water tank state.
